Grip
Grip is not only a CD ripping software package that has CD Paranoia built in, it is also a CD player with a neat and tidy compact design for use as a high quality audio player. The CD player software end comes with loop, shuffle and play list modes and track sharing capabilities. The CD ripper side of this package can rip single, multiple or even partial files as well as encode formats simultaneously with ripping, add tags and support a large range of file formats.
This software definitely has a split personality with a separate tab for the music player and the CD ripping function but its design is sleek, compact and user friendly. The website has helpful screenshots of the software in both its personalities as well as a look at what the player looks like in condensed mode.
In order to use the Grip software you must have a Gnome2 desktop which means Linux users only for this software gem. That may be bad news for windows users but its great for Linux users who are often left unconsidered when it comes to MP3 conversion software. If you have the Gnome1 desktop you can download an earlier version of the software and they've even provided a mirror of libghttp which is required for v3.0.7 for Gnome1.
